A couple who share a passion for walking will grace the 7th Annual Foundation & Family Day Walk set on Aug. 16 along the Saipan Beach Pathway.

Yasuhiro Kameda and his wife, Mayumi, are from Fukui Prefecture and learned about the Saipan Walking Association, Inc.’s event while surfing the Marianas Visitors Association website.

“They plan to come to Saipan for diving but when they checked out the MVA homepage, they found out about the Family Foundation Walk. They are looking forward to join the event and would like to enjoy the beautiful nature of Saipan,” said SAIWAI board member Hiroko Tajima.

The Kamedas are scheduled to arrive in the CNMI today, Aug. 12.

“The couple just loves walking and whenever they have a chance, they join walking events,” added Tajima.

SAIWAI’s 7th Annual Foundation & Family Day Walk will start from the Chamolinian Utt in Garapan and heads south toward the 10-kilometer turning point near Oleai Beach Bar and Grill in Oleai.

Those who wish to take on the shorter course, can take the five-kilometer variety of the event, which turning point is at the Japanese Tank in the intersection of Beach Road and Quartermaster Road.

Registration for the 7th Annual Foundation & Family Day Walk will begin promptly at 6am and registration is free. Those who want to buy SAIWAI’s signature event T-shirts, they only need to fork out $8.

Like all SAIWAI activities, IVV members will receive credit for joining the 7th Annual Foundation & Family Day Walk.

IVV has member walking clubs in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand, the CNMI, and 29 other European countries, including Germany.
