Gov. Benigno R. Fitial has signed into law two bills appropriating funds for projects on Tinian.

Fitial approved the appropriation of $16,000 of poker license fees for the students affected by the closure of the Northern Marianas College campus on Tinian and the purchase of computer equipment for the Department of Labor on Tinian.

Of the amount, $9,000 will pay for the housing and transportation expenses of NMC students who had to transfer to the Saipan campus after the college closed its doors on Tinian. The remainder will be used to buy the computers for the Labor Department.

The governor also endorsed the use of $11,000 from developer infrastructure taxes to complete the installation of roll up doors and exhaust vents at the Tinian fire station.

Both local bills were sponsored by Rep. Edwin Aldan and passed by the Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation.
