The federal court sentenced yesterday to six months in prison a security guard who admitted selling less than a gram of methamphetamine or “ice” on Saipan.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson gave Greggory Sablan Kalen credit for the time he has already served in jail.

Munson ordered Kalen to serve the balance of his prison term by home confinement. Kalen will be placed on three years of supervised release and required to perform 100 hours of community service.

He was also ordered to pay a $100 court assessment fee. During the probationary period, Kalen is barred from using drugs and drinking alcohol.

At yesterday’s hearing, assistant U.S. Attorney Eric O’Malley noted that the defendant accepted responsibility at the early stage in the case. Defense attorney F. Matthew Smith agreed with the prosecutor’s recommendation.
