With no difficulty picking up another win, early leaders Acme Roofing and Karakuchi maintained their perfect records in the ongoing 2008 Miller Lite Four-Person Beach Volleyball League at the Pacific Islands Club sand court.

Acme Roofing won its fourth victory over an undermanned MHS 67 Doh-Fins, 21-18, 21-7, 21-10, last Tuesday night and solidified its lead in the 11-team field tournament.

The young and spirited Doh-Fins zoomed to a 5-2 lead in the opening set before eventually caving in and suffered their fourth defeat in as many games.

Larry Sheri teamed-up with Elizabeth Henke, Jenni Brown, and Dana McFadden as Acme Roofing broke away from an 18-all count as they scored the next three points for the first set victory.

The other team members are Jazz Roscow, Rob Jordan, Luthor Taylor, and J.R. Ngeskebei.

Sheri’s strong serves, including a couple of aces, did the heavy damage for the Doh-Fins, who failed to sustain their good start as they played a so-so game in the next two sets.

The team is composed of Jordan Igisomar, Wilton Laniyo, Cecile Nogis, Dionisia Hosono, Aemir Villegas, Champ Untalan, and Christian Hidalgo.

Earlier, Karakuchi scored its own masterful 21-14, 21-14, 21-14 win against MHS Oakies and extended its winning run to 3-0 and kept its hold of solo second place.

The loss was Oakies’ second in four starts. They are now in sixth place ahead of seventh-running Off Twice, who has a lower number of sets won with four compared to Oakies’ six.

MHS Peers posted another easy victory against MHS Serves Up!, 21-15, 21-15, and 21-9, as it climbed to solo third place with a 3-1 win-loss record.

MHS Peers improved their record to 2-1 to stay in fifth place behind fourth-ranked Enyophace, who has also 2-1 card. The two teams have also the same number of sets won but Enyophace compiled more points scored by a team with its 186 as against MHS Peers’ 166.

In the fourth game, Thai One On struggled before getting the better of Off Twice in three sets, 21-10, 21-18, 21-17.

With the win, Thai One On barged into solo third with a 3-1 slate.

It will be a battle of unbeatens when Acme Roofing and Karakuchi battle it out next Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Before that, they will have to face separate opponents in today’s resumption of play as they hope to keep their record clean.

Karakuchi will meet MHS Peers at 5:30pm while Acme Roofing will square-off with MHS Oakies at 6:30pm.

Two other games will be featured. Enyophace will take on MHS Serves Up! At 7:30pm, while Kimoichi will test Champ-on at 8:30pm.
