Third in a row for Kimoichi
Kimoichi nailed its third straight win in the 2008 Miller Lite Four-Person Beach Volleyball League after outclassing Thai On One Tuesday night at the Pacific Islands Club sand court.
Kimoichi won two of its three-set match against the depleted Thai On One to improve to a 3-2 win-loss record.
A 21-15 victory in the first set gave Kimoichi a good start, but it failed to sustain its momentum in the second set, bowing to Thai On One, 16-21. Kimoichi regained its bearings in the third set, taking advantage of Thai On One’s tired players, 21-11.
Thai On One missed Natalie Hill, Nick Swaim, and Laurie Peterka forcing its other spikers to play extended minutes.
Kimoichi had a solid lineup with Keoni Chariton, Clark Boswell, Jeff Cloud, Jessica Uematsu, Kegn Hall, and Louise Oakley around.
The victory moved Kimoichi from seventh to sixth place in the team standings.
Actually, Kimoichi is tied with four other teams for fourth place, but two squads are ahead of Kimochi on points scored in five games.
Thai One On is in fourth place despite losing to Kimoichi, as the former has 278 points compared to the latter’s 266.
The MHS Peers is in fifth with 26 points, while Off Twice is in seventh with 254 points.
Enyophace continued to keep pace with league-leading Acre Roofing after beating MHS Peers in straight sets.
Enyophace secured the win early after topping the first two sets, 21-16, 21-16. The MHS Peers gave Enyophace a good fight in the third set, but still lost, 21-23.
The win improved Enyophace’s record to 4-1, a win behind the undefeated Acme Roofing (5-0).
Off Twice also swept MHS 67 Doh-Fins in the first game to recover from their previous loss. Off Twice had a hard time against its foe in the first two set before pulling off a 21-14, 21-17 triumph. The third set was a cruise with Off Twice winning by 13 markers, 21-8.
MHS 67 Doh-Fins is still winless in five games and thus remained at the bottom of the 11-team field.
Only three games were played Thursday night, as PIC had scheduled an event on the sand court. The match between Acme Roofing and Karakuchi will be played on Oct. 2 at 6:30pm. Karakuchi is currently in third place with its 3-1 record.
Karakuchi will play its fifth game tonight against Enyophace at 8:30pm.

The MHS Oakies are holding a 2-3 record and are hoping to end their two-game losing skid. MHS Serves Up! and Champ-On are both looking to enter the win column after dropping their first four games.
