Beginning Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, the Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section and Criminal Investigation Bureau will be relocating to the building behind the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Susupe.

The Traffic Section and CIB will only occupy a portion of the building, which formerly housed the Residential Substance Abuse/Minimum Security Complex.

Also on Monday, the Police Academy will be moving to the Kagman Community Center, while the Fire Academy will be relocated to the Kagman Fire Station.

In a statement issued Friday, DPS said the sections are moving to the new sites because the building they currently occupy—the former court house—is in poor condition and unsafe for DPS employees to work in.

“Moreover, the building is without electricity due to a transformer blowing out earlier this week. Electricity will no longer be connected to the building,” the DPS statement said. (Saipan Tribune)
