Several players who competed in last weekend’s Inaugural 2008 Jehovah-Jireh Tennis Tournament at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan tennis courts are expected to participate in next month’s 2008 NMITA Fall Classic Tennis Tournament.

According to Fiesta tennis instructor Peter Loyola, who organized the Jehovah-Jireh netfest, 30 percent of the players from last weekend’s tournament will be joining the Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association-sanctioned event.

The Fall Classic is set for Nov. 8 and will be holding competitions in three age groups (9-and-under, 13-and-under, and 18-and-under) in both girls and boys divisions. Other details of the tournament were unavailable at press time.

Loyola said he is encouraging players training under him to join the Fall Classic as the tournament is one way to improve their skills.

“The Fall Classic will feature the best junior players in the CNMI, so playing in the tournament will give new players a chance to challenge CNMI’s best, gain experience from a very competitive tournament, and improve their skills,” Loyola said.

Loyola had last weekend’s tournament divided into three divisions, based on players’ skill level.

Carl Dela Cruz, Kevin Rhee, and Tiffany Madlangbayan topped Level 1, 2, and 3 of the Jehovah-Jireh tournament, which drew more than 30 participants.

Meanwhile, Loyola will be holding an adult version of the Jehovah-Jireh tournament mid November.
