Voyagers, Home Boys maintain pole positions
PTI Voyagers and Primo’s Home Boys continued to lead their respective divisions in the Budweiser Open 8-Ball League ran by the Saipan Billiards Association.
Voyagers improved their league-leading 37-11 win-loss mark in the Agingan Division skunking tailender Coral Reef Shark Attack, 4-0, Tuesday Night at the latter’s home turf.
The PTI quintet of Roman Rodriguez, R.J. Mascarinas, Jojo Talibong, Rolly Villanueva, and Luis Fajardo accounted for 139 points against the 99 put up by Shark Attack’s Bernard Kileleman, Bill Limes, Ben Norita, Patrick Taitano, and Vince Mareham.
The loss pushed Shark Attack down deeper in the cellar with a woeful 11-37 standing.
Second-running Docomo Pacific Hustlers kept pace with Voyagers after registering a 4-0 shutout victory against Godfather’s Rock Steady at Krystal Perfect Spot. The rout was mirrored by the points spread, as the Hustlers came away with 140 points to Rock Steady’s 101.
The victory gave Hustlers a 36-12 slate, a half game behind rival PTI, while the loss knocked down Rock Steady’s record to 15-33.
The only match in the division that didn’t result in a sweep saw Islander Rent A Car beat USSP Wat-Ever, 3-1, or 130-115. The latter improved to 30-18, while the former dropped to 15-33.
Home Boys, for its part, increased its lead in the Obyan Division to three games following its 3-1 win over second-running Perfect Spotters at Primo’s Bar Tuesday night.
Primo’s Nolan Cultura, Franz De Luna, Mario Diola, Jorge Lizardo, and Juancho Mendoza accounted for 122 points to beat Perfect Spotter’s Serge Tibudan, Eric Piol, Johnny Dugos, Primo Ferrera, and Mario Jumalan, who totaled 106 points.
It was win No. 31 against 17 losses for the Home Boys, while Perfect Spotters dropped to 28-20.
In other Obyan Division matches, USSP Fotten Palau (27-21) beat VFW Warriors (17-31), 4-0; and D’Pirates Huwa (23-25) defeated Coral Reef Barracuda (18-3), 3-1.
