Title match in beach V-ball league scheduled for tomorrow not tonight
Organizers of the 2008 Miller Lite Four-Person Beach Volleyball League announced that the second and last round of the playoffs will be played tomorrow not tonight as earlier mentioned.
The annual fall league concluded the regular season last week and started the playoffs last night on the PIC sand court. Eight teams made it into the playoffs and three were eliminated.
Acme Roofing was playing Off Twice in the first game of the playoffs. Other first round playoffs schedule set for yesterday were Thai One On vs. MHS Peers; Karakuchi vs. Kimoichi; MHS Oakies vs. Enyophace. This year’s playoff round has a single-elimination format.
Results of the first round matches were unavailable at press time.
Acme Roofing was seeded first in the playoffs after claiming the pennant and finishing the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record.
Off Twice caught the last bus going to the playoffs with its 5-5 record. Actually, Off Twice tied two other teams—MHS Oakies and Kimoichi—for the win-loss mark, but Off Twice lost in the tiebreak with the least points scored in 11 games. Off Twice garnered 524 points to settle for eighth place, the MHS Oakies has 537 to drop to seventh, and Kimoichi earned 559 to claim the No. 6 spot.
Karakuchi finished the regular season with a 6-4 record and tied the MHS Peers and Thai One On. But Karakuchi moved to third with its 580 points. MHS Peers was relegated to fourth with 577 points, while Thai One On settled for fifth with 483 points.
Enyophace was in solo second place with a 9-1 slate.
The winners of the Acme Roofing-Off Twice tiff and Thai One On-MHS Peers match will duel for the first championship ticket tomorrow at 5:30pm.
At 6:30pm, the victors of the Karakuchi vs. Kimoichi and MHS Oakies vs Enyophace will battle for the second finals seat.
The title match will be played at 7:30pm.
