Daniel remains unbeaten
Daniel had an explosive second half en route to an easy 98-77 victory over Ezekiel in the 2008 CIM-FCC Inter-Color Basketball League-3rd Genesis Cup Friday night at the CIM-FCC Basketball Court in Gualo Rai.
It was Daniel’s third win in as many games strengthening its hold to the No. 1 spot, while Ezekiel remained winless in four games.
Elmer Esdrelon and Ricky Dela Paz, who were held to four points apiece in the first half, found their rhythms in the second to lead Daniel’s breakaway in the final half of the game.
Esdrelon nailed 11 points in the second half, while Dela Paz fired nine.
Brendon Talania took the scoring cudgels for Daniel in the first half, drilling 12 points.
But Ezekiel’s White Capalad held his ground against Talania with the former also nailing 12 markers. Capalad drew help from Ernie Moises, who added 10 in the first half keeping Ezekiel afloat after 20 minutes of play.
Daniel led by only three at halftime, 44-41.
But when Esdrelon and Dela Paz stepped up in the second and three other Daniel players also found their targets, things began to go against Ezekiel’s way.
Daniel had three players scoring eight points apiece in the second half to hand Ezekiel its fourth straight loss. Talania continued to make his way to the basket, scoring eight markers. Sam Fernandez and Darwin Barbo were the two other Daniel players to hit eight points in the second half to outscore Ezekiel, 54-36.
Capalad slowed down in the second half, as he was limited to six points. Actually, most of Ezekiel players struggled offensively in the second half, as it had only five players making it to the scoreboard with Moises leading the team with 10 points. Krystian Villanueva had nine, Jhun Baltazar chipped in six, and Brendon Perez added five.
