AT THE LEGISLATURE October 12, 2008
The Commonwealth Diabetes Coalition, Department of Public Health, Public School System, Ayuda Network, Inc. and Marianas Health Services will provide presentations and the latest information to the Legislature on diabetes and homecare in the CNMI. The breakfast meeting will be held today, Nov. 12, 2008, from 7:30am to 10:30am at Fiesta Resort and SPA Saipan.
[B]SNILD session today [/B]The Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation will have a session today, Nov. 12, 2008, starting at 1:30pm in the House chamber. Among the bills scheduled for introduction are:
– House Local Bill 16-19: Repealing and reenacting the Saipan Zoning Law (Rep. Ramon Tebuteb +1)
– HLB 16-20: Re-appropriating $15,000 from Saipan Local Law 15-12, Section 2(c) to fund the acquisition and land compensation of Lot R/W, situated on part of Tun Antonio Apa Road in Fina Sisu (Rep. Oscar Babauta)
– HLB 16-22: Authorizing SHEFA financial assistance for students who have not obtained a high school diploma or its equivalent who are enrolled in a trade institution such as the Northern Marianas Trades Institute (Rep. Justo Quitugua)
-The following bills are also scheduled for action today:
– HLB 16-9: Re-appropriating $500,000 from SHEFA for the payment of salaries for certain government employees who were to be furloughed as of April 2008 (Rep. Dave Apatang)
– HLB 16-11: $75K appropriations for a guardrail on Flame Tree Road ($50,000); replacement of the Kagman II baseball field backstop ($15,000), and electrical and plumbing upgrade, equipment and supplies for Koblerville Youth Center ($15,000) (Rep. Joseph Reyes)
– HLB 16-14: $242,056 appropriations re various Precinct 1 road paving projects (from Tun Herman Pan Road Intersection to Gangochi Road to As Lito Road) (Rep. Dave Apatang)
– HLB 16-15: Re-appropriating $344,035 from Saipan Local Law 15-12 Section 2(d)(1) to Alu Drive for sewer and road improvements on Alu Drive in San Antonio (Rep. Dave Apatang)
[B]House session tomorrow[/B]The CNMI House of Representatives will have a session tomorrow, Nov. 13, 2008, starting at 9:30am in the House chamber.
[B]Public lands hearing tomorrow[/B]The Senate Committee on Resources, Economic Development, and Programs will hold a public lands hearing tomorrow, Nov. 13, 2008, starting at 10am in the Senate chamber, regarding homestead, land compensation, and commercial land lease matters.
