Women for Jesus Conference starts today
The Women for Jesus is holding a two-day retreat with the theme “Women Imparting to Women” starting at 7pm today, Nov. 14, at the Grace Christian Assembly on Navy Hill.
The participants will be also having lunch tomorrow Nov. 15, at the Charley’s Cabaret of the Pacific Islands Club with a price $15.
Pastor Gail Kamakani will be the main speaker in this first ever conference on Saipan by the WFJ.
Joyce Palacios, one of the organizers, said they are inviting women of all beliefs and races to come and hear inspiring messages in time for the holidays.
She said the purpose of the conference is to share the joy of salvation and the Gospel of Christ. She said that, despite the many problems women face today such as the economic crisis and rising prices, there is hope for the future.
“We would like to share with them this hope. Before I had a revelation with Jesus, I was hopeless. I was dying spiritually. So that is why I want to invite them to this conference,” she said.
Palacios, who has been attending a similar conference in Hawaii since 1987 with other women from Saipan, said the two-day activity is an outreach program by the group.
“I was saved in 1984. I had no relationship with Jesus. I thought I was going to hell but then I did not want to,” she said. “We want women to know that through Jesus their lives can be changed into something better. We promise that when they come to hear us tell of our experience, they will have something better in their mind to hope for,” Palacios said.
She said their group will pray for peace for everybody during the holidays, whether it be Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.
“Have a blessed holidays. We hope to see the women of all belief or race to come, whatever problems they have. We are all sinners but there is hope for everyone. Come to this conference and experience and discover why Jesus died for us,” Palacios said.
Pastor Kamakani and her husband George are founders and senior pastors of Thy Word Ministries Inc., which has churches based in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Saipan, and several affiliations in the Philippines.
She had been conducting Women for Jesus conferences since 1983.
Pastor Gail is an ordained minister and has been in the pastoral ministry for 27 years.
