$300K OK’d for Saipan infrastructure projects
Gov. Benigno Fitial has signed into law a measure appropriating more than $300,000 in developer taxes for various Saipan infrastructure projects.
Fitial signed House Bill 16-165 into law Nov. 14, making it Public Law 16-22.
The new law appropriates $367,000 from the Third Senatorial District Developers Infrastructure Tax Fund. The money is distributed as follows:
-$86,000 to pave the student parking lot at Kagman High School and the faculty and staff parking areas at Koblerville Elementary School. The secretary of Public Works, working with the affected principals has expenditure authority.
-$15,000 for the rehabilitation of the Kagman II baseball field. The Department of Public Works’ secretary has expenditure authority.
-$10,000 for improvement and upkeep of the Veterans Cemetery in Marpi, which the executive director of Veterans Affairs has expenditure authority over.
-$107,000 for paving and drainage improvement of the Tangantangan Road. The secretary of the Department of Public Works has expenditure authority.
-$104,000 to upgrade water lines in Dandan under the authority of the executive director of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.
-$45,000 to pave the coral road at Northern Marianas College. The president of NMC has expenditure authority.
