Devil child
When deciding on the PEW/Bush legacy monument, some folks say we should be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. They want us to confuse the ham-handed way Pew shoved the Bush message down our throats with what they claim is a good opportunity to have the U.S. control our marine assets for all time. The problem is they are dead wrong about it being a good thing for the CNMI. In fact, the baby they want us to save is Rosemary’s Baby.
There is nothing worth saving about either the message or the messenger. The message is that the feds view their self-interest as superior to ours. The message says they can just take what they want. That message is getting old. That message is simply not in the spirit of the Covenant. That message is wrong. As for the self-serving messenger that calls itself Pew, I suggest they go find someone else to harass. Go find a place with citizens that will roll over and bark when you ask. We are not that place or those people.
We want to conserve our precious islands and the waters that surround them. In fact, we do a far better job of it than the seriously polluted USA does. What we don’t want are phony front men coming here with their we-are-better-than-you-attitude and a hidden agenda. If they want to bow down to a lame duck President to calm their oil-soaked conscience, that is fine. We just want them to go elsewhere and stick it to somebody else willing. Thanks but no thanks. Now go away and please take your devil baby with you.
