Commissioners of the Rota Casino Gaming Commission announced yesterday the completion of the first draft RCGC Rules and Regulations to strengthen and clarify the Rota Casino Act of 2007.

The draft rules focus on improving the economic development of Rota through a casino industry, according to the commission, headed by its chairman, Diego M. Songao.

The RCGC is the regulator of the Rota casino industry, governing how the industry will evolve on the island. It was mandated by the Rota Casino Act of 2007 to create the rules and regulations of the island’s casino industry.

The commission will publish the rules and regulations in the Commonwealth Register to give the public the opportunity to comment.

In addition, the first draft of the rules and regulations was earlier distributed to interested parties, potentials investors and all CNMI government entities, including the Mayor of Rota, the Municipal Council of Rota and the Rota Legislative Delegations, to name a few.

The commission said that these rules and regulations reflect lessons learned from other resources and other enacted casino industry regulations.

Created based on their assessment and accountability systems, the proposed regulations are a continuance of the dialogue and addresses some of the more technical aspects of the casino industry.
