CityLiving tastes island living
Staff members of a major Tokyo newspaper recently traded city life for a taste of island life during a familiarization tour of Saipan this month.
The newspaper CityLiving sent a six-member team including models, directors, a writer, and a photographer to Saipan on Nov. 6-10, 2008, to prepare for an article to be published next month.
Published by Sankei Living Shimbun since 1981, CityLiving has a circulation of 185,701 copies and targets female workers 20-40 years old. CityLiving is distributed to offices in Tokyo, and its articles focus on topics of culture, travel, food and health.
“This is an ideal publication for the Northern Marianas to be featured in, as female workers continue to be one of our major target markets in Japan,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “The tour group covered a number of locations in just a few days of shooting, and we the scenes they captured will entice some of their readers to come and taste island life for themselves.”
While on Saipan, the group visited Hyatt Regency Saipan, Kingfisher Golf Links, and Managaha. They did additional shooting at Pure Color, Toninos, Oleai Beach Bar & Grill, Big Dipper, The Flair, Price Costco, Coffee Care, Hafa Adai Shopping Center, Sabalu Market, and Paupau Beach.
With the support of Hyatt Regency Saipan, Tasi Tours, The Flair, Coffee Care, JM Nursery and other members, MVA provided the tour group with complimentary hotel rooms, ground transportation and support, assistance with shooting permitting, and other services. The Northern Marianas will receive $56,000 in publicity in the Dec. 12, 2008, edition of the paper, when Master Card and MVA introduce Saipan in a two-page article. (MVA)
