The Saipan Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting DUI/sobriety checkpoints this weekend:
The first checkpoint will be held today, Nov. 21, 2008, on Beach Road Susupe by Minatchom Atdao pavilion. This operation will start at about 10pm and will end at 11:15pm.
The second checkpoint will be conducted on the same date on Chalan Pale Arnold Road, in Gualo Rai, by the Sherwin-Williams Building. This will start at 3am and will terminate at about 4:15am.
The DPS Traffic Section will also be conducting DUI/sobriety checkpoints tomorrow, Nov. 22, on Chalan Pale Arnold Road, Chalan Laulau, by the PTI building, from 7:30pm to about 8:45pm.
The second checkpoint on this date will be on Beach Road, Susupe by the Multi-Purpose Building, from 10pm to about 11:15pm.
All checkpoints are subject to be terminated if it begins to rain. In addition to the checkpoints, officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions and laser activities. (DPS)
[B]Open House at Hopwood today[/B]Hopwood Jr. High School’s Report Card Day/Open House will be held today, Nov. 21, from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Report cards will be picked up from student homerooms. Students will be released at 1pm. (PR)
[B]CNMI WIC moves to new location[/B]The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program under the CNMI Department of Public Health would like to inform the public and WIC participants that effective Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, the program will be relocating its clinic to Building N-13, Upper Navy Hill (behind Brilliant Star School–follow the blue WIC signs). [B]New office hours for child care office[/B]Beginning Dec. 1, 2008, the Child Care Program Office will be closed for business every Friday, from 1pm to 4:30pm. This time will be used for administrative purposes, such as processing of clients’ applications, re-eligibility, monitoring and other activities essential to the smooth operation of the program.
The new business hours will be:
-Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 4:30pm
-Friday 7:30am to 1pm
[B]Red Cross Health & Safety Trainings[/B]The American Red Cross announces the following health and safety training for the month December 2008:
-Adult CPR: Dec. 2, Tuesday, 6pm -10pm
-First Aid: Dec. 16, Tuesday, 6pm – 10pm
-Infant & Child CPR: Dec. 20, Saturday, 8am – 1pm.
The training fee for Adult CPR and First Aid is $30 per person/per course and the training fee for the Infant & Child CPR is $35 per person. A participant’s booklet is required. Participant’s booklet is $5 each and is good for all three courses.

[B]Invitation to a reunion![/B]Join the Marriage Encounter Community at a weekend reunion on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, starting with a 6pm Mass at the Mt. Carmel Cathedral Chapel. This will be followed by the reunion at 6:30pm at the Mt. Carmel Cathedral Social Hall (Joeten-Daidai Social Hall).

[B]CAO seeks vendors for cultural show[/B]The Carolinian Affairs Office, in cooperation with the Refaluwasch Genealogy Society, is seeking proposals for the development and operation of a cultural show to include Carolinian culture at the Carolinian utt in Garapan. [B]Holiday Artists Sale reservations[/B]Spaces are beginning to fill up for the 4th Annual Holiday Artists Sale, which will be held at the Multi-purpose Center on Nov. 29-30. [B]Math placement test set[/B]The Northern Marianas College will be conducting the Math Placement Tests on the following dates:
Jan. 6 10am – 12pm Room: D-1
5pm – 7pm Room: D-1
Jan. 8 10am – 12pm Room: D-1
5pm – 7pm Room: A-9
Jan. 13 10am – 12pm Room: A-9
Jan. 15 5pm – 7pm Room: A-9
No reservations needed—first come first served. No admittance to the testing room will be allowed after the starting times listed above.
Those who wish to take the test must bring a valid ID (Drivers License, passport or School ID), pens or pencils and a calculator (optional). There is a $25 fee for the Math Placement Test that must be paid in advance at the NMC Cashier Window at the Finance Office, located in Building N. Applicants will not be admitted to the testing room without proof of payment (a receipt for the placement test fee). NMC students are not allowed to take the placement test more than once. The only exception to this condition is for NMC students who have not taken a math class within one year of taking the math placement test.
