Pelisamen lifts Brothers to win in Rocball league
The Ghasias Brothers notched their second win in as many games in the 2008-2009 World Organized Rocball Community League after pulling off a come-from-behind victory over the Soul Rebels Saturday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
The Ghasias Brothers were down, 39-47, after three sets, when Freddie Pelisamen connected on three aces and scored a goal to lift his team to a 17-2 victory in the third set.
The fourth-set triumph also allowed the Ghasias Brothers to nail a 56-49 juiced-out victory against the Soul Rebels.
Pelisamen finished with 21 points, making three aces, six kees, and a goal.
Ben Lisua led the Soul Rebels’ losing cause, drilling 16 points on an ace, four kees, and two goals.
Three other games were played Saturday with the Oakies, Islanders, and Fanians downing separate foes.
The Oakies had a juiced-out triumph over the Naturals, 54-42.
The Oakies leaned on Joemil Lisua’s 10 points to edge the Naturals in four sets. Joemil had two aces and three kees.
Ichnis Kapwich also fired 10 points for the Naturals, making two aces and three kees.
The Islanders recorded the third juiced-out win Saturday when they topped the FSM rebels, 60-49.
Jerry Saures was the Islanders’ heavy hitter, tallying 14 points on three aces, a xunx and three kees.
Joshua Titus paced the FSM Rebels with 11 points, as he posted an ace, three kees, and one goal.
The Fanians recorded the most lopsided juiced-out win of the day winning by 33 points against No-Mercy, 66-33.
Larry Sharry scored 15 points for the Fanians, hitting four aces, a kee, and a goal.
Myron Laniyo had only eight points for No-Mercy, making four kees and an ace.
After three weeks of action, the league is now down to nine teams, as three were eliminated early for losing games via forfeitures.
The nine remaining teams will start the round-robin phase of the league with the Top 4 teams after eight games advancing to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Rocball creator James Feger said that games set for tonight and on Wednesday have been rescheduled to give way to make-up games in the high school basketball league.
Feger also announced the pairings in the upcoming games: Islanders vs. Evenflow; No Mercy vs. Ghasias Brothers; FSM Rebels vs. Oakies; Naturals vs. Fanians; and Soul Rebels vs. Evenflow.
