The American Red Cross-NMI Chapter donated an Automated External Defibrillator, also known as an AED, to the Tinian Health Center last Friday.

Chapter board chair Larry Lee and Health & Safety coordinator Kennedy Benjamin flew into Tinian Friday afternoon to meet with the THC staff and management. There they discussed the unique specifications of the AED to the staff.

The AED is one of several units that the NMI Chapter has donated to various public facilities within the past year. Other facilities include the Saipan International Airport, the Man’amko Center, the CNMI Court House, Managaha Island, the Grotto, Lao Lao Beach and Obyan Beach.

An AED greatly increases a victim’s chances of survival when suffering from a cardiac emergency such as a heart attack. Over the years the NMI Chapter has trained thousands of its community members on how to use an AED in hopes of making our islands a safer place to live. (PR)
