Shenyang TV discovers sunny appeal of Saipan, Tinian
The Northern Mariana Islands of Saipan and Tinian have the opportunity to reach 10,000,000 television viewers in northeast China with images of the tropical vacation destination through this month’s visit by Shenyang TV Station.
A seven-member team composed of editors, videographers, and reporters concluded a three-day tour of the Northern Mariana Islands on Dec. 8. The familiarization tour was aimed at gathering information for a television feature highlighting nature-based and gaming activities available to visitors from China.
“This is a continued indication of the growing interest of Chinese travelers to visit Saipan, Tinian and Rota,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio of the tour. “With this extensive filming session, Shenyang TV will be able to show that our islands offer visitors a variety of indoor and outdoor activities.”
Upon their arrival at Saipan International Airport on Saturday, Dec. 6, the group cruised to Tinian onboard the inter-island ferry, where they were given a tour of the quiet, history-laden island, as well as the world-class gaming and accommodations at Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino.
The group returned to Saipan on Sunday, Dec. 7, for a tour of the island’s historic and scenic sites, an afternoon on the beaches of Managaha Island, a sunset cruise in the glassy lagoon, and an off-road jungle tour. The group stayed at the luxurious Hafadai Crystal Tower at Hafadai Beach Hotel in Garapan.
Shenyang TV station, considered the flagship media outlet of Shenyang city in northeast China, was founded in 1979 and includes two radio channels, three cable channels, and cable coverage reaching approximately 10 million consumers. The television show they will produce will air repeatedly next month and will have a total value of over $900,000US, but will cost Saipan, Tinian and Rota nothing but the islands’ hospitality.
“We extend our thanks to our industry partners, Tinian Dynasty Holiday and Century Tours, for their extensive support in making this very valuable outreach possible,” said Tenorio.
Tinian Dynasty Holiday and Century Tours provided airline tickets, accommodations, meals and tour guides for the filming and production crew. (MVA)
