Golf Woman to highlight golfing in CNMI
Creative staff of the Japanese publication Golf Woman have been in the Northern Mariana Islands this week to gather material for their “Golf Saipan Campaign 2009” targeting female office workers.
A four-member editorial and photography crew arrived in Saipan last Dec. 8 for a four-day familiarization and photo tour to include visits to Marianas Country Club, Kingfisher Golf Links, and Laolao Bay Golf Resort.
Golf Woman is a free, quarterly magazine distributed throughout Japan at golf courses, golf lesson clubs, country clubs, shopping centers, restaurants, and hair salons. The “Golf Campaign Saipan 2009” will feature the island from the vantage of healing, dining, golf, and shopping.
“Young, female office workers from Japan have always comprised a substantial percentage of visitors to the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio. “The publicity we will receive through Golf Woman adds one more enticement to the package—golf—to entice these young ladies to make the Northern Mariana Islands their vacation destination of choice.”
Other stops on the Golf Woman itinerary include Mandi Asia Spa, Paseo de Marianas, Hafa Adai Shopping Center, Tonino’s, DFS Galleria, Coffee Care, Oleai Beach Bar & Grill, SandCastle, PriceCostco, Mt. Tapochau, and the old Japanese Lighthouse for background and attraction shooting. They will stay at Marianas Resort & Spa and Aqua Resort Club during their working tour.
Golf Woman, published by Tower Films, has a distribution of 50,000 copies targeting female office workers in Japan ages 20 to early 40s. MVA and its members are assisting the group with shooting and hotel arrangements, ground transportation, and other support. Northwest Airlines donated airline tickets for the crew from Golf Woman magazine. The Marianas will receive 10 full-color pages in the publication, with an estimated value of $80,000. [B][I](MVA)
