Tinian Mayor Jose P. San Nicolas unveiled photographs of Tinian’s three war heroes at the West Tinian International Airport on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008. The three war heroes are Staff Sergeant Julian Aquiningoc Manglona, Seaman AnaMarie San Nicolas Camacho and Specialist Victor Michael Fontanilla. All three were killed while serving their country in the U.S. Armed Forces.
“It is important that we, the people of Tinian, honor our war heroes. They gave the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of freedom for all United States citizens,” said San Nicolas.
Present at the unveiling ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Vicente M. Manglona, parents of the late Julian A. Manglona; Mr. and Mrs. Ramon K. Quichocho, parents of the late Victor Fontanilla; Mrs. Ana San Nicolas Cruz and Jorgianna San Nicolas Paulino, grandmother and sister of the late AnaMarie San Nicolas Camacho.
“These photographs will hang prominently in the arrival terminal for all residents and visitors to see. May we never forget the sacrifice and heroism during this time of war and for years to come,” the mayor said.
San Nicolas personally invited over 20 man’amko to witness the ceremony. The photos were blessed by Fr. Isidro Ogomuro, pastor of the San Jose Church Parish. Later, the mayor hosted lunch for the soldiers’ families and the man’amko at the Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino.
