We fully support the proposed economic summit put forth by former justice Jose Dela Cruz, for we are in an economic disaster. Although the downturn of economies is felt globally, it’s time that we as a community and a Commonwealth unite on an important mission or quest to save our homeland from further mayhem in the upcoming years before the New Year sets in. The call to set aside all differences both politically and socially is a positive step in the right direction to find sound solutions to a healthy and sustainable economy to include instilling stability and integrity in our internal affairs as a self-governing Commonwealth. As one individual had written in many of his letters to the public, “one people, one direction, one Commonwealth and one goal—a goal to save our homeland. I urge our Legislative Branch to consider involving the many individuals that have been actively vocal on the predicaments we face today, especially with the issues on federalization, public utilities, Retirement Fund, public services, education, healthcare, unemployment and so forth. We are requesting the following individuals to be included on such an important and historical summit so that we can once and for all find a common goal to a better CNMI:

-Taotao Tano
-NMD’s Oscar Rasa
-NMC’s Sam McPheters
-Rep. Tina Sablan
-Irene Tantiado
-DEKADA
-CREAM
-Ambrose Bennett
-Jesse Torres, Kagman Community Association
-Ron Hodges
-Ed Propst
-Filipino Association
-Korean Association
-Chinese Association
-Japanese Association
-Bangladesh Association
-Business community
-All other associations

We must all find alternative industries other than tourism in order to sustain and maintain self- sufficiency as a self-governing Commonwealth agreed upon in our Covenant in Political Union with the United States. This will be a meeting of all nations within a nation as it is with the United Nations General Assembly to bring forth solutions as whole for a better tomorrow, a better future and better Commonwealth in the coming years.

Gregorio Cruz Jr. President, Taotao Tano
