The Filipino-American Lions Club will hold its Classified Bowling Tournament on Feb. 21 and 22 at the Saipan Bowling Center with the advance registration already starting yesterday.

Organizers said that entries will be accepted only if there will be available slots after the advance registration.

The three-game roll-off will start at 6:30pm on Feb. 21 and 12:30pm on Feb. 22.

The stepladder finals will be held on the last day of the two-day event after the three-game roll-off is completed.

Bowlers have the option to bowl on the first day or the second day, or on both days, but only the highest series will be counted for determining the top three bowlers for the stepladder finals. Actual handicap will be added to each bowler’s score.

Based on the tournament rules, only bowlers with average based on 12 games in any league can join the tournament. The official list compiled based on completed or ongoing SBA/PBA leagues shall be the basis for classification.

Bowlers with less than 12 games can play, but only under Class A. For unlisted bowlers, established average based on 12 or more games in any league may be used.

Classification of bowlers is based on averages as follows: Class A, 170 and over; Class B, 155 to 169; Class C, 154 and below.

Registration shall be on a “first come-first to pay” basis and lane assignments will be based on the order of registration.

Participants will be grouped in particular lanes by classification and they will move to a different pair of lanes for every game.

The Top 3 bowlers from each class will be determined base on the total score for the three-game series.

The championship phase will be a stepladder format—semifinal (No. 2 vs. No. 3), and the winner will bowl against the No. 1 for the championship in a knockout game.

Guaranteed prizes will be based on minimum of 72 entries. Amounts and number of cash awards may increase based on actual number of entries.

First place will win $300 in each class.

For further information, interested participants can contact Ador Dimaano, Gigi Zapanta, Robert Talavera, or any member of the Saipan Fil-American Lions Club.
