Nursing board wants to change lone employee’s job title
The Commonwealth Board of Nurse Examiners wants to change the job title of the office’s only employee, Sinforosa Deleon Guerrero, from an accountant IV to an administrator’s level, to reflect her actual duties and responsibilities.
Nursing board chair Bertha P. Camacho said Deleon Guerrero’s duties and responsibilities are that of an administrative officer and more, and also parallel to an executive officer that all other nursing boards across the U.S. mainland have.
“A previous review of Ms. Sinforosa Deleon Guerrero’s current duties by the Office of Personnel Management places her at the administrator’s level because of the technicalities of her duties,” Camacho told Saipan Tribune.
She said the nursing board would like to acknowledge this by placing the right title to fit the job description.
“Mrs. Deleon Guerrero has done a wonderful job by multitasking, but the workload is just too difficult to keep up with and the board realizes that Mrs. Deleon Guerrero’s knowledge and skills are underutilized because she is expected to do tasks of an administrative assistant. This workload has built up too far that the effects are slowing down office operations,” said Camacho.
This will also clarify the job descriptions for administrative assistants that the board wants to hire soon.
The administrative support staff that the nursing board needs will not only answer the phone, check e-mails, and do filing.
Camacho said the board needs permanent people to put together the National Council Licensure Examination applications, process submitted NCLEX documents and credentials, and fully understand the process of getting a nurse license for the applicants.
