Tinian workshop on how to do business with the federal govt
The Tinian Chamber of Commerce will host a training workshop tomorrow, April 21, focused on how to do business with the federal government in connection with the military buildup on Guam and how to obtain capital through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s lending program.
The federal contracting workshop consists of two training sessions of three hours each, covering subjects such as learning about one’s potential federal customer, and obtaining a taxpayer identification number and a past performance review.
The first session will be from 9am to 12pm, while the duplicate session will be from 2pm to 5pm. Both will be held at the Tinian Public Library.
Phillip Mendiola-Long, president of the Tinian Chamber of Commerce, said representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. General Services Administration will conduct the training sessions for business members who are interested on “how” to do business with the federal government.
“All small business owners who are interested in participating in the $20 billion Guam/Marianas military buildup are encouraged to attend this workshop with officials from SBA and GSA,” the Tinian Chamber said.
The training resource persons are: Brandy M. Untalan, customer service director at the U.S. General Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service; Kenneth Lujan, Guam branch manager of U.S. SBA; and Jack Corbett, business development specialist at the U.S. SBA.
Other subjects that will be covered include using FEDBizOps to look for open solicitations to bid on; obtain a DUNS number; Complete Central Contractor Registration; obtain a small business certification; obtain a North American Industry Classification Code; complete the Online Representations and Certifications; learn about SBA loan availability and new programs; and learn about SBA business incubators.
Tinian Chamber members will be charged a $5 fee, and non-Chamber members will be charged $10. Drinks and refreshments will be available free of charge for paid participants.
