Rotting roadkill

I was at a government agency in Garapan on Wednesday, and a nice lady I was speaking to told me the dead, bloated cat in front of their office had been lying there for three days. She called various agencies, all claiming it is not their responsibility. In the meantime, hundreds of tourists walk by the carcass two feet from the sidewalk, covering their nose from the stench. The CNMI claims we need more tourists, yet we can’t even pick up rotting roadkill.

May I suggest we put in a hotline for roadkill so that it is picked up and disposed of as soon as it is called in? I remember reading a few months ago that there is no budget to pick up roadkill. Excuse me, but what kind of budget do you need to pick up roadkill anyway? An able body, two plastic gloves, a shovel, a trash bag, and a pickup truck. Case closed.
