Opportunities to increase visitor arrivals from Russia are being negotiated with the recent visit of a Russian airline and travel agency looking to collaborate with Fly Guam in offering a Hong Kong-Saipan package.

The general manager of Transaero Airlines, the director general of Jetford Co. Ltd., and a sales manager of Fly Guam visited Saipan in May to explore the possibility of developing a charter flight package that will offer three or four days in Hong Kong and a week or more on Saipan. Both destinations allow the entry of Russian passport holders without other visa requirements.

“Based on what they’ve found, they say Saipan has very reasonable prices and excellent hotel accommodations for middle- and high-class travelers from Russia,” said Marianas Visitors Authority marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “Russians view the Northern Marianas as a safe destination, and as having clean and non-crowded beaches plus year-round perfect weather.”

The familiarization tour was organized by the MVA, Fly Guam, and Belka Tours.

During their three-day tour, they stayed at Fiesta Resort and SPA Saipan and conducted hotel inspections at Saipan World Resort, Marianas Resort and Spa, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Aqua Resort Club, and Saipan Grand Hotel. They also visited Managaha, took an island tour of Saipan, and shopped at DFS Saipan. (MVA)
