3-hour power outage in Kagman, Papago
Some Kagman and Papago residents will experience a three-hour power interruption on Saturday, June 25, 2011, as linemen will be isolating seven power poles that will be relocated for the Cross Island Isa Road Expansion Project.
In a notice yesterday, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp, said the power outage will last from 5am to 8:30am and will affect the intersection of Kagman Mobil Gas Station and Kagman Homesteads (5:30am to 8:30am) and from Pina Drive Isa Drive to the Botanical Garden (5:30am to 6:30am).
CUC said that Kimco Inc. linemen will be isolating the seven power poles from the electrical grid so that they could be relocated. The power poles are in the Feeder 4 second partial circuit just south of the Kagman village entrance to Papago.
After the modification is complete, the areas from Botanical Garden to Pina Drive in Papago will be transferred to the Kiya 1 circuit until the relocations are completed next week. This should only take an hour to complete and Kiya 1 will be re-energized.
In addition to the power pole isolations, the CUC linemen will be installing a new air break switch on Kagman Road across the Kagman Mobil gas station. The ABS will provide the linemen the ability to isolate problematic areas for repair and maintenance and minimize inconvenience to customers residing outside the vicinity of future work.
Additionally, separate crews will be replacing the burnt and rotten power pole by the Chacha Jr. High School and as well as clearing vegetation on the primary lines in the affected outage areas.
Because of the scale of the work that will be performed, travelers are advised to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through affected areas. [I](Saipan Tribune)
