IT&E Awesome upsets Shirley’s B
IT&E Awesome handed Shirley’s B its first loss in the women’s division of the 2011 Saipan Soccer School Futsal League after the former eked out a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night at the TSL Sports Complex.
Connie Camacho made the big difference for IT&E Awesome, drilling all the team’s three goals to stun the then unbeaten Shirley’s B. IT&E Awesome improved to a 4-2-0 win-loss-draw record and moved up from fourth to third place, while Shirley’s B fell to second with its 5-1-0 card, a win behind Shirley’s A (6-0-0).
Camacho put IT&E Awesome in the scoreboard in the first half, but the team was still behind after 25 minutes of play, as Shirley’s B made a pair of goals. Alexa Vergara annad Marriele Gariguez had one goal apiece for Shirley’s B in the opening frame.
Then in the second half, Camacho added two more goals to grab the lead and keep it when IT&E Awesome’s defense held on to shut out Shirley’s B.
[B]Thai Team 6, IT&E Blossom 0[/B]In the other women’s game, Thai Team blanked IT&E Blossom, 6-0.
Pratoon Stoffer nailed a hat-trick for Thai Team, while Catherine Perry contributed two goals. Chunathip Monthonglang scored the other goal for Thai Team, which now has a 2-3-0 record and climbed up from seventh to sixth place in the eight-team field.
IT&E Blossom remained at the bottom of the team standings with its dismal 0-6-0 card.
[B]MEN’SKorean Futsal 8, Mellow Yellow 5[/B]
In the first men’s game, Korean Futsal Team recovered from a 4-6 loss to Red Inter with an 8-5 victory over Mellow Yellow.
The win put Korean Futsal back into the lead, tying Wild Bill’s (5-1-0), while the defeat dropped Mellow Yellow to a 1-5-0 card.
Korean Futsal was in control of the match from start to finish with Jeong Jin Jeo leading the team’s attack with his three goals. He drilled two in the first half, while Jin Wook Cho, Jin Koo Cho, and brothers Dae Min and Dae Won Jeon added one apiece to lift Korean Futsal to a 6-3 advantage at the half.
Yong Sin Lim tallied a pair of goals for Mellow Yellow in the first half, while Jeb Nogis hit one. Nogis scored anew in the second half, while Allen Mijares chipped in one, but Korean Futsal matched Mellow Yellow’s output in second half to keep the win. Jin Koo Cho and Jeong Jin Jeo scored for Korean Futsal in the second and last frame.
[B]Go Green Team 5, Red Inter 5[/B]The other men’s match ended in a draw with Go Green and Red Inter scoring five goals each.
Go Green had the upper hand in the first half, 3-1, but lost it in the second when Red Inter aggressively attacked the former’s defense.
Ruselle Zapanta posted twin goals in the first half, while Panapa Peteru added one. Matt Holley scored Red Inter’s lone goal in the opening frame. Holey drilled one more in the second, while Arkie Reusora recorded two and Edwin Cruz hit one for the equalizer. Fradel Sedillo and Jimmy Tang had one goal apiece for Go Green in the second half.
Red Inter remains in third place with its 3-1-2 slate, tying Docomo. Go Green holds a 2-2-2 card for fourth.
